If you’re looking for information and advice about how to start an email list, this blog post addresses this topic.
How To Start An Email List
Your existing customer base really is your cheapest source of sales. Just think, an existing base of customers gives you access to people who already like and trust you. Getting people to know you, like what you’ve got to offer, and take the leap to trusting you, is quite an involved process.
Being able to access these people will prove so much better than trying to access people who don’t know you from Adam.
When you have your own email marketing list, people already like and trust you. They like and trust you enough already to have signed up to your list, at the very least.
An email list simply represents a relationship. Anyone that enters their email address is impressed enough with what you have to say and what you have to offer that they’ve willingly given you their express permission to continue conversing with them through email messages.
The good news for you is that is all you need to start a successful online marketing business.
When you gain people’s trust, to the point at which they happily join your email list, much of the initial legwork is done and taken care of. This will make it a lot easier for you to pitch to these people, and they will be more likely to start buying some of your offers.
Now, don’t get me wrong, you can’t just send a poorly worded update to tell people to click on a link to buy something. That’s simply does not work.
You MUST pay attention to the needs of the members of your list. You MUST take them seriously. You MUST make sure that there’s a tight fit between whatever you’re sending and their actual needs.
But, make no mistake about it, when you have people on your email marketing list, it’s easier to convert them than if you’re simply posting ads on Facebook, Twitter, Google Adwords, etc. Because your list members have initially trusted you, it’s going to be much easier to get them to buy from you.
This isn’t any different from an “old school” sales person picking up the phone, going through his or her previous buyers and selling them on a new offer. It could be a new property for sale, a car that’s just been launched, or even a special edition product, the thing is that it’s so much easier to work with a list of people who have already expressed an interest in something similar enough to what you’re now trying to sell. And not only did they express their interest, they went on to purchase that item.
“Old school” sales people are well aware that their calling list is pure solid gold. Well, the same applies to your email list. You might consider it as just a collection of emails, but there’s a lot more to it. Because people voluntarily signed up for your email list, this is actually self-created.
So, that’s how to start an email list that will be more responsive and profitable in the long run.
If you’re not willing to do the work yourself, here is something that might be of interest to you.
